Rilla of Ingleside

I found this awesome blog, where the writer made a dream cast of the book Rilla of Ingleside. She ranted about how the movies of when Anne is older aren't portrayed right. (Gilbert never goes to war. never ever people!!!)
Rilla of Ingleside is by far my favorite book in the Anne series. (if you have not read it, please please do!!)
This  is the link to "her" dream cast.
I do not like 'her' Rilla though, she looks to naughty. Rilla is supposed to be sweet and innocent, dreaming of her first dance. The picture of Ken won't show up, so I can't make an opinion of him...But he should be tall and handsome.
Obviously Anne and Gilbert played by Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie. Like 'she' said "who else could play Anne and Gil like they did?" :)
Jem is awesome.
I don't like Walter though either. Walter is a poet and hates the idea of war, but that Walter looks..proud??? (spoiler: when Walter dies, it's the worst part of the book. Very sad)
Diana and Nan won't show up for me either, so I'll assume they are good.
Jerry and Faith are perfect!
Una is so sweet looking and has just the right look to be in love with Walter.
Mary and Myrandia are really good, but Whiskers on the Moon (aka Mr. Pryor) is totally weird. (i mean, he's that anyway, but the long beard doesn't fit him. in my opinion.)
Susan Baker just needs longer hair to be able to put in a bun or handkerchief. And I can totally see that actor chasing a man with a pot of boiling dye. (yeah, just go read the book)

This would be my choice for Rilla,  Julia Lipnitskaia.
Rilla is 15 when the book begins and a description of her is that she never walked, but danced.

Julia actually is 15 and figure skated in the 2014 Olympics.
(and was amazing!)
(Yep, that's Rilla.)
Other than that, I have no idea what other characters to choose! But Julia definitely is pretty and would make a great Rilla.

I haven't seen the 3rd or 4th movie, but I don't think I want to, because I'll just be sad that they aren't like the books. (terrible habit, btw!)

Well, this was fun to do, and completely random!

Tomorrow night is the orchestra concert! I'm so excited!
I'll be on here early next week (or sometime in a while) to tell you all about it!

Spiders

A jumping spider jumped on my arm today. I thought it was a fly, so I just flicked it off. Then I realized that it was a spider. And that it had touched me. What did I do? Why of course the most logical... Scream. "Benjamin!!! (he was the only lucky brother in the house at the moment.) Ben, come quick. There's a spider!! HURRY!"
Thank God for awesome brothers who will kill spiders for their sisters!! And He has blessed me with five. :)  They love doing it just to show me how easy it is. So it all works out in the end.
(maybe I just need to learn to do it myself...??)

Hockey game photos

So, these are some of the pictures from the hockey game we went to last week. It was a lot of fun trying to get an actually good picture.
My cousin, Bryan, is #20. So you'll see a lot of pictures of him. :)

(This one might be a bit confusing, but if you can see inside the little red circle which I made for you, it's a puck that was going out of the rink. It'd be easier to see if the picture was bigger though.)
The two captains of the teams, Bryan is on the left.

(guess where the puck is....?? :)

//// no title comes to mind ////

Just a quick little note! I prolly should get on here and actually write something. :) But right now I'm finishing up school, getting ready for a concert and recital coming up. Which I'm so so so excited about! The orchestra concert is going to be awesome, even though we had to "scratch" the Ghost's of Brandenburg song. Which was really sad, but, we're going to play it for graduation. So, we'll still get to perform it!
I'm playing Sietz concerto in G major for my recital. I've been working on it for approximately 6 weeks. It's such a fun song, and I'm excited to perform it. Even though I'm usually very nervous at recitals. :)
I found a dress in my great Grandma's closet that I'm going to wear. (for the recital) The dress is probably at least 50 years old. It's pink. And that's all I'm gonna tell you. :) But I'll post some pictures on here later. My Great Grandma is 94 and still works at a school as a teachers aid. I asked her if I could wear her dress and she said "of course!" I tried it on for her and she said "Here, try on this coat too. Oh, I have a red skirt you could borrow too. Or what about this black dress?"   She tried to empty her closet on me!! :)

I'm listening to Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss  while I crochet baby blankets. I'm almost done with the girly one, and soon I'll be starting the boy one! I highly recommend that book to any teenage girl.

A few funny sayings from the past couple of days:

At the hardware store with a broken doorknob, which we were trying to replace. Mom asked "How does that work?"  The hardware store "guy" or "helper" (what are they called??) replied "Well, this one doesn't."

In the car with Robbie and Lydia. Robbie asked Lydia "Are you cold?"
Lydia replied "I'm just the right height!! I have my jacket on!"

2014 Cold Water Challenge

Ok, YES, I'm crazy! Thank you!
Now go jump in a lake.

I challenged:
Serena Nottingham
Ethan Nottingham
Amber Collison
Bethany Bergmann
to jump in a lake/pond within 24 hours, or donate money to the charity of their choice.
(I think I forgot to say that in the film, but that's the rule)

:)

It actually wasn't too bad! Kind of fun!
But yes, very cold!!

April showers

Now I am going to post the April joke.

Everybody knows that April showers bring May flowers.

But, what do May flowers bring???

(NO googling this, people)

Everything is funnier at midnight...or wait, is it?

No. Everything is not funny. Some things are, but not everything.

We went to a hockey game friday night. And it lasted for 4 1/2 hours. I am not joking. Completely serious.
Story:
This game was in Port Huron, which is right across the river from Canada. So we drive a long ways to get there, and honestly I think everyone had their ear buds in and were sleeping or trying to. Yours truly had Joshua Bell playing and was crocheting a baby blanket. (which is almost done!!)
Dad had been telling us that we were going to see "Bears and Falcons." My cousin is on the team "Mighty Falcons" so most of us thought that we were seeing the Falcons play the Bears. But surprise! Dad drive into a movie theater and we watched the new DisnepNature movie called "Bears." It was really well done and a movie that the whole family enjoyed! The filming on that movie is incredible!! So beautiful!
Then we went to our hotel-la (Thats what my sis called hotels when she was 3) and swam in the pool for a bit.
The hockey game started at 7pm, and we ate hot dogs, huge cookies, and candy that our aunts and uncles showered us with. All of which was very good, and obviously healthy. And of course, watched the game. I brought my camera and was able to try getting shots of hockey players. Which is a lot harder than it sounds. But I'll post some pictures later. The hockey game was very fast paced and exciting. (at first!)  Each team got a fair amount of opportunities to make goals, but the goalies were really good and did not let one puck slip by. After the game was "over" it went into the first overtime. 35 minutes later, started the second overtime. 35 minutes later, started the third overtime. (They would play for 20 minutes, then have a 15 minute break while the ice was "re-done."
Oh, it was soo loud. The person who chooses music for these games must be like a 19 year old guy. You had to yell to make the person next to you hear. But it was fun, as most of our aunts, uncles and cousins were there with us.
I wish they would have done a shoot out, but they can't do that in this division of hockey.
Finally, the other team made a goal, and the game was over.
We then went to Denny's! At midnight. It was fun, but I was so tired! :) Daniel told me a joke, and I just stared at him.
So, everything isn't funnier at midnight.
We made it back to the hotel around 1am, and the girls room had HGTV on, of course!
And I found that eating dinner just before you go to bed makes you have weird dreams.
Saturday morning we emptied the hotel's supply of blueberry muffins (sort of joking!) and headed back home!
Ben (9yo) and I got the job of cleaning the house up because everyone else had to go work at the church building. So we blared Piano Guys over the computer and were dancing to the Let It Go/Vivaldi song. Well, I was dancing, but apparently Ben doesn't agree that boys should always dance with their sisters.   ;)

Happy Easter everyone! I have a post "pending" for that too, but it might happen tomorrow. Or sometime in November.

(just kidding about November. It's a Brian Reagan quote....)

Birdy!

Reminiscing when my friend and I were both about 8 or 9, we would lay upstairs in our bed and make videos of ourselves. One of the videos we did over and over again was of a silly song that she taught me.
It goes like this:

Early in the morning, when I was fast asleep
I heard a little birdy go "tweet, tweet"
And this little birdy had a funny name.
It.... was....
Iga flyga fleega flyga iska niska nogga nogga iga flyga fleega flyga
BIRDY!!!

(just for clarification, that last "birdy" You sing "bird..." and then make your voice very high pitched "eee"  so then: "Bird EEE!!"
Oh, yeah, those songs were awesome!! And I still break out into that song every once in a while, just to make my brothers groan. :)

Happy Endings

I recently watched Cinderella for the first time! *gasp* I've picked up a definite theme in fairy tales. (actually, I'm sure everyone has...) All the princes and princesses live happily ever after.
Yep. True story.
(at least, I'm pretty sure they all do, but, than again, I haven't seen all the disney princesses)
You probably won't ever see a movie where the princess is forever locked in her tower and keeps on talking to the mice or brushing her hair.
(And in Frozen, Tangled and Cinderella, all the princesses are at some point locked in a tower. Did you notice that?)  Anyway, I just found that entertaining. :)
The soundtrack from Frozen has some sweet orchestral music.

I am preparing for two performances! An orchestra concert and a violin recital. I'm really excited! And a bit nervous... ;)  The orchestra pieces are really cool! Ghosts of Brandenburg is my favorite!! It's a harder piece than I have previously played, but oh so much fun! It even goes into 7/8 timing. !!!  After orchestra I go around singing 1 and 2 and 3 and a 1 and 2 ...etc... It's a catchy rhythm, not even mentioning the tune!

Other than music... I got to babysit an adorable little girl a few days ago! She's definitely a Shirley Temple look alike!

I had a friend over for dinner last week, that was so much fun! Her name is Bailey, and she is awesome!
You should go read her blog: Bailey's Blog   Because it's awesome too!

I have really enjoyed these past 60 to 70 degree days, and now I hear it's supposed to snow tonight. (again???)

And now I shall give you the recipe for homemade waffles. These are amazing. And the batter smells like sugar cookies. I kid you not! Put lots of butter and syrup on these, and breakfast/lunch/dinner will be amazing! The batter is easy to make, which is also a plus!

2 cups of all purpose flour
3 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
Sift/stir all together

In desperate bowl, mix:
1 1/2 cups of milk
2 egg yolks    (note: be sure to save the egg whites, because you'll need them later.)
1 tablespoon of vanilla
Pour over dry ingredients and stir until halfway combined.

Pour in 1/2 cup of melted butter.
Mix gently.

Beat your egg whites until stiff. (this is the part when you use a hand mixer or hire your brother)
Fold the egg whites into batter.
Scoop into the waffle maker and let it cook until waffle maker beeps or however your waffle maker works. Just make sure they are done, and crispier is much better than not.
Serve hot and burn your tongue. I mean, try to avoid burning your tongue. yeah.

Do you wanna build a snowman?

-Practicing violin in a room with your mother and 4 younger siblings is not only awkward, but really hard to concentrate. :)
-Kentucky lost.
-Orchestra might be the best invented "pastime."
-It's sandal weather.
-Having friends over is amazing!
-Babysitting is fun!
-Music is so sweet
-Croutons are necessary for salad.
-It's national siblings day... I L.O.V.E my siblings!
-Is it weird to name your instrument?
-Cake is good.
-Having a dream about playing in a recital is bad because you always forget what the notes are.
-Dreams are weird anyway.
-Painting nails is cool
-Watching golf is boring and "anticlimactic" (I don't even know what that means)
-We had our first family softball game last night
-I like softball
-It's finally spring time here and I have the song "do you wanna build a snowman" stuck in my head.

okay bye

Reuben

It will be hard for me to not just post baby pictures on here for the rest of my life. Seriously! Babies are soo cute!!
Here are some more pictures that I promised ya!

Reuben and Susan!
you'll be
his first kiss
his first love
his first friend
you are his momma
and he is your whole world
he is your little boy
So cute together!
Reuben makes the funniest faces in this mirror!! And I got into weird positions trying to capture them. ;)
Your first breath took ours away
(and I can say that cuz I was there! :)

(See what I mean? I am laying on the floor behind him, one hand on the camera and one hand holding the mirror. I just cropped out my hand when editing. :)

In his car seat, looking so serious and contemplative. He really is a "thinker" and it's the best when he locks eyes with you!
I love you to the moon and back!
 Snuggles!!!
 And sneezes!
The parents went out to dinner and I got to cuddle with Reuby boy (my nickname for him, cuz I tell him he's sweeter than rubies!)  for two hours!! He fell asleep on me, and I'll admit to sleeping a bit too...
sleeping!

His little hands stole my heart,
His little feet ran away with it
~Author unknown (to me.)

I've had a lot of fun looking up cute quotes, but I couldn't always find the authors.  But you can probably tell the difference between what I wrote and what was a quote/poem.

Reuben at 16 weeks

I got to go see my adopted nephew, Reuben, on Thursday. He is now 16 weeks old, and sooo adorable!!!
I obviously brought my camera, and we had a fun time taking his pictures!! He is so entertaining and has a great personality! I love this little man!!
I got help give him a bath!
His little duck towel!

Aww! Those eyes are so cute!!
 And his dimples!

We think that Reuben needs his own reindeer, so he can react Frozen.
Don't you think Reuben and Sven would be purely adorable and perfectly awesome??
 Yeah, I think so too!
 Huh. A football!
I love it when he grabs my fingers!!

 Happy feet!
(that's from a kids song)

This is just a few pictures! I only took 250... :)
So there are more to come!!
P.S. Don't you think he would win cutest baby contest?!?!?!
