Happy Thanksgiving and no, I didn't mention Christmas...

Wow girls, we've hit over 5,000 page views. That is crazy! I can't believe you all have kept checking this blog. :) This school semester has been just amazing. But still a little busy. (although, there has been time to introduce my younger brother to "Hogan's Heroes," so I guess it hasn't been that busy...) I'm taking an English class at a local community college (first class towards being a nurse!) It has gone really well and has definitely been interesting being in a classroom setting. I was telling my brother today about how many people just skip class... I mean come on, they're adults now. But I have enjoyed the writing part. So far I have written a paper on my career choice, and one about my teacher, LaRae. I loved writing the one on LaRae... it was super fun! Now I'm working on a research paper and I'm looking at how classical music benefits children. Not the most exciting topic ever, but it is interesting.
I'm also playing violin with the college orchestra again this year. This is such an amazing experience and I'm so thankful to be able to play with them. I'm tentatively working towards a senior violin recital, so I've had lots of music to practice. :) In my music room, I hung up some white and blue lights and put butterflies on them. It is cute and different - we've had the same decorations in there since like... 2008. When I practice at night (which happens more since it gets dark at 6!) it is fun to have just the Christmas lights on.
There are a few families who I babysit for every once in a while. Friday night I was at a house and it was storming. I had located candles and matches in case the power went out, but I didn't really expect it to. Well, it did. For about 10 seconds I have to talk real calm while locating my phone, "Ok, let me find my phone and we'll light some candles! Isn't this a fun adventure?!" Thankfully my little kids were super chill, and once the candles were lit we just kept playing with Mac and Lightning McQueen. The power was only out for like 10 minutes and we had a great story to tell Mom and Dad. :)
I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving!! <3

Boys' baseball season!

We went to a lot of baseball games in July. All my younger brothers played and they did a fantastic job!

They all pitched and played many other positions. Ben's strong point (+favorite!) was pitching, Joey's was 3rd base, Matt's was 1st base.
They had a lot of fun!

(and Daniel's prediction became true - I did become the crazy girl in the stands.)
Nice job.

Hello, July!

Hi all you lovely people!!
I hope you are having an awesome summer! Can you believe it's July already?  I've been doing a lot of reading (now that school is done!) My favorite book was "Girl Defined" by Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird. This book was amazing and I highly recommend! Go here and watch the video that goes with it, learn about the book, etc. And then...read it!! Also these girls have a cool Youtube channel here.

So about 7 weeks ago, I started volunteering at the local hospital - in the O.B. department! It has been really neat! I have done lots of filing papers, making and taking phone calls, cleaning, stocking supplies. But also I get to follow the nurses around, which is a lot of fun! :

I now have some more time to go through pictures, so take a look at these cuties!

This expression! :D

Happy Easter!

I'll get on here soon and update you on the amazing things that have happened lately - but for now let's focus on Jesus! These songs are so good - I've played them over and over and over.. :)

"Death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered;
And we shall reign with Him,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!"

Happy Easter!

Ah, Christmas!!

"It's the most wonderful time of the year!"

Yeah, I love Christmas time! Yesterday we set up our christmas tree - we have a tradition of always eating venison sausage, cheese and crackers while playing christmas music and decorating the tree/house. We have lights hung outside and all along the top of our kitchen cupboards. It's so pretty!
(the only sad thing is it's supposed to be 45 degrees on Christmas = no snow.)

We got a Christmas present a bit early. For weeks Dad had been telling us we'd be going on a trip (on my parents anniversary) and the only clue he gave us was 'F.T.G.C.'
We were like "Are you sure you want all us kids along on your anniversary?!"  ;) Haha!
Turns out, it stood for 'Family Trip Getty Christmas.'
We went to see Kristyn Getty in concert!! It was absolutely amazing!

Unfortunately my favorite song they sang isn't online (see lyrics below) but this one is a close second!

My favorite was "Thou who wast rich beyond all splendor"

 Thou who wast rich beyond all splendor,
All for love's sake becamest poor;
Thrones for a manger didst surrender,
Sapphire-paved courts for stable floor.
Thou who wast rich beyond all splendour,
All for love's sake becomes poor.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,

All for love's sake becamest man;
Stooping so low, but sinners raising
Heavenwards by thine eternal plan.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love's sake becamest man.
Thou who art love beyond all telling,

Saviour and King, we worship thee.
Emmanuel, within us dwelling,
Make us what thou wouldst have us be.
Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Saviour and King, we worship Thee.

It was so fun to see her live! And to sing "In Christ Alone" with 300+ people and the band, was awesome!

Some more music stuff - My younger siblings, my two violin students and I all played in a student recital last week. That was fun.. and nice to have over. :)
After the college orchestra concert I got some pictures with my brother, Daniel.
 <3 this one!
And this is just to show the whole of my dress... wearing a floor length gown is just so much fun!!

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas! I leave you with my favorite verse for now:But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed. ~Isaiah 53:5

Merry Christmas!!

Crazy Beautiful Life

I'm sorry I've neglected you, dear blog. Just been a bit busy, you know?
I'm going to try to back up and highlight some events in October...
It started with a friday night dance class. And then my brother teaching me more swing dance in the living room the next day. SO much fun!!
We went to a friends wedding on a thursday, it was so pretty!
The day after was a rehearsal for a wedding I played violin in. -funny story, I asked like 4 people to play with me (because the songs were for two violins) and finally a friend said she could do it. We had a rehearsal together, and everything was looking good. Two weeks before the wedding she called me and said she couldn't play anymore. (this is when I start to freak out!) Thankfully, another friend from orchestra agreed to play with me, and he did an amazing job! Music wise, everything went really good!- So yeah, rehearsal friday night and wedding saturday! I had so much fun playing for "my" first wedding. :) And the wedding itself was beautiful!

The next weekend was my brother's birthday (19!) and the college orchestra concert. I don't know if I've wrote this on here, but a local college has let me come play in their orchestra. It's been an amazing experience. And I'm so thankful for the opportunity! The concerts were saturday and sunday, we played Overture to Candide, Sibelius 2nd symphony, and the Lieutenant Kije suite.
And all through October, I had orchestra practices at least twice a week, violin lessons (taking one and giving one!) and school (I'm learning Italian!)
It's been crazy, but oh so beautiful!
